Boxes ship: 1/25 ~ A new calendar year is quite often a time when we take stock of where we have been and where we are going. After the traditional “holiday season” has passed, everyone is back to “business.”
The winter solstice can be a time of darkness, stagnation, and a sort of end-year malaise. When that Times Square ball drops at midnight on the new year, however, our consciousness tends to shift: we think about what we have done over the last year and what we may want out of the next. It is a time for taking stock, adding up the plusses and subtracting the minuses, with a front-facing position towards what is to come.
This sudden adjustment in thought at this time of year can mean that we strive for changes to our thoughts or actions in the areas of our lives that may need strengthening, improving, and replenishing. We think about gym memberships, dietary changes, work plans, relationship goals. We think about how we want to move forward on our spiritual path…what skills we want to learn, what goals we want to achieve, what obstructions we want to conquer. We think to cleanse ourselves of negativity and failure and mistakes while facing the new year with hope and optimism.
This is not a new philosophy or phenomenon surrounding this time. The calendar year and the Wheel of the Year share these ideas, and throughout history we have different groups and cultures that would look to clear out the old and ring in the new. In our earliest societies as humans, there was the hopeful belief in the return of new life and new growth, focusing on what needed to be done to have a bountiful spring planting season. The Romans later on celebrated Februa, where we get the word for the month of February. This was a festival on the 15th of the named month where purification and cleansing were celebrated and observed. The Celts, also turned their minds to clearing out the negative and what was used up and focused on improving their lives during this time of year as well. A number of early spring traditions were created at that time, including the concept of “spring cleaning” and the mundane preparations for fertility and growth translated into the spiritual clearing and purification necessary for success and a prosperous season ahead. As modern pagans, we have continued to carry forward many of these seasonal traditions, most specifically the Gaelic traditions, and call this time Imbolc, the first of the eight sabbats in our modern calendar year.
The modern spiritual observation of this shift from darkness to light, from old to new, is what Imbolc is all about. Many Pagans use this time to take stock and begin to lay a foundation to the growth and improvement they seek, and like the first step in any magickal working, creating a solid magickal foundation starts with purifying, cleansing, ridding and banishing all that needs it, in order to take the steps to ultimately replenish ourselves and our spirit.
In this spirit—and at this time in the Wheel of the Year—Sabbat Box has curated a collection of items that can help everyone prepare themselves (and their craft) for the return of spring and the time of preparation we celebrate with this Sabbat. What parts of your life, spiritual and mundane, are you looking grow from? Do you have or know of anything that needs clearing our purifying in your physical and spiritual space? What about yourself? Could you use some spiritual clarity and replenishment? By starting the year with a focus on purification and clearing of the old, we are able to lay the foundation and groundwork that we need in order to aid us in manifesting the future we desire, in a symbolic, physical and spiritual manner.

• BOX SYNOPSIS •
All of the items that we curated for you inside this box correspond with -or- may help assist you with the following forms of magick:
- Purification Magick
- Protection Magick
- Transformation Magick
- Working with the goddess Brigid
Across the globe, different cultures honor this time with festivals that celebrate the new life that awakens where they live. In many ancient European cultures, Imbolc was a time to celebrate the goddess Brigid, who many consider the original triple goddess figure. Brigid later became a Catholic saint, with her original pagan aspects folded into Christianity. She is considered by some as the goddess of fire and light, as well as reproduction and fertility. Imbolc is said to be translated as “in the womb."
In Ireland, feasts are held by pulling out some of the last winter stores as an offering to the earth’s promise of new seeds to be sown, and the future crops to be harvested. Many cultures in the past also considered this “lambing season,” when breeding of livestock and pregnant ewes and other animals would reproduce to add to the flock. This is also a time of weather divination, where people would look for the appearance of snakes or badgers from their dens to gauge how much longer the winter would be (and where the modern custom of Groundhog’s Day may have evolved).
Not only is Imbolc and its time of the year a time to reawaken the life of the earth, it is also a time of purification and cleaning out old, cooped-up things in our homes and lives that we are ready to let go and improve. This time of clearing away later became to be known as “spring cleaning,” which is an annual tradition for many.
Here at Sabbat Box we recognize and celebrate all of these different aspects of Imbolc and we have curated items for this box to honor our connection to these traditions and rites, and what they provide as a focus to our magickal practice and Path.

BREAKDOWN
The Celts, for whom the celebration of Imbolc stems from, believed that the “Brigid’s Cross” (a symbol sacred to the goddess Brigid) is a powerful talisman of protection, and would be hung above windows or entryways into the home in effort to keep harm or want away.
It is originally believed that Brigid’s crosses were crafted by the Celts and hung indoors as a way to invite their life giving Goddess (Brigid) into the home during the start of spring and the planting season. It was quite the symbolic gesture during our ancestor’s time, holding various significance. In Celtic lore, Brigid was considered the “fire keeper of the flame of life” and some believe that the reeds and rushes used to make these talismans happen to represent the kindling used to keep “the life fire” lit, making this an extremely old and powerful form of sympathetic magick. The practice of crafting these ancient talismans still continues today in parts of Ireland on St. Brigid’s Day, which is celebrated on February 1st.
Each Brigid’s Cross included in Sabbat Box was hand crafted in Ireland and made with real reeds and rushes harvested from the River Shannon, by folk artist Patricia O’Flaherty. Patricia, the founder of “Naomh Padraig,” (pronounced Nav Badrig) has been an Irish folk artist for over twenty years and uses age-old techniques and material to craft her line of traditional Irish Folk Crafts

• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: This beautiful prayer is to honor the goddess Brigid and the light she brings to the world, and can serve as an incantation or spell element for the celebration of winter’s end and spring’s return.
BREAKDOWN
The Wheel of the Year and the eight sabbats that it represents happens to stem primarily from the old seasonal Celtic calendar. With the sabbats’ roots deep in Celtic lore and celebration, it is easy to see why Brigid (the Celtic goddess of light, life, fertility, the forge and the hearth) became a focal point of worship for Imbolc, especially given the time of year Imbolc was celebrated by the Celts. You may incorporate the use of this prayer into your Imbolc rites or spell work as a way to connect with both the archetype of Brigid (what she represents), and to work with her as a goddess.

• IMBOLC SABBAT BOX - AT WINTER'S END •
The new calendar year is here, and with it brings the promise of new life and new beginnings. We watch as the earth begins to awaken, her fertile soil ready to welcome the rise of her Sun Lord. We eagerly await the newness of life to come forth as the winter cold starts to wane. The earth comes awake: the air begins to sweeten, the earliest flower buds start to appear, even through the snow. The sun gives new life and new energy to all living things. The ice and snow begins to melt, water flowing through the forest, a promise of new life ready to emerge.
Across the globe, different cultures honor this time with festivals that celebrate the new life that awakens where they live. In many ancient European cultures, Imbolc was the celebration of the goddess Brigid, who many consider the original goddess figure. Brigid later became a Catholic saint, the original pagan aspects folded into Christianity. She is considered by some as the goddess of fire and light, as well as reproduction and fertility...Imbolc is said to be translated as “in the womb”.
In Ireland, feasts are held, pulling out some of the last winter stores as an offering to the earth’s promise of new seeds to be sown and future crops to be harvested. Many cultures in the past also considered this “lambing season”, when breeding of livestock and pregnant ewes and other animals would reproduce to add to the flock.
This time of clearing away later became to be known as the annual tradition of “spring cleaning”.
Here at Sabbat Box we recognize and celebrate all of these different aspects of Imbolc. We are curating items to honor our connection to these traditions and rites and who they provide focus to of our magickal practice and Path. Much like early spring fruits and vegetables, we are collecting a group of items that will serve to help awaken all of your senses and help you to honor this amazing point in the Wheel of the Year.

Hail and Welcome, Sabbat Box Members and Friends!
Imbolc is upon us, and that means that the long darkness of winter will soon be wiped away by the light and green of spring. The earth is about to wake up again to bring new life and new opportunity for growth and increase. Our ancestors saw the lengthening days and knew the divine would once again bless those who made ready for the coming season.
This year’s Sabbat Box for Imbolc is a collection of products with this preparation in mind. One aspect of this preparation in Pagan circles is purification, and we have focused on this aspect to bring members the tools they need to ritually prepare minds and bodies for the coming work of light.

As you may know, when it comes to working magick and performing rituals and spells, there are many ways one can go about it. Though our methods and the manner in which we approach our spell work can be completely different from one another, some of the most important aspects of spellwork most witches and Pagans will commonly agree on are: practice, timing, and further educating ourselves on the various topics within the craft. With that said, we wanted to include something inside the Imbolc Sabbat Box to help aid you with your magickal practice while working as a guide to assist you throughout the entire new year. Since 1971, The Witches’ Almanac has been providing the Pagan community an invaluable written and pictorial guide on astrology, the occult, folklore, and magick. • WHAT: Handcrafted Purification Ritual Bath, 4.0 oz
• WHO MAKES IT?: The Sacred Well
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: Available via The Sacred Well or the Sabbat Box Store
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: This intoxicating bath blend is a powerful tool to be used for purification and a great way to prepare for ritual or mediative work.
BREAKDOWN
Staying in line with our general theme of purification and purification magick for the Imbolc Sabbat Box, we decided to include this generous-sized handcrafted herbal purification bath from The Sacred Well. This particular ritual bath conatins a proprietary blend of black Hawaiian volcanic salt, red Hawaiian salt, white sage, rosemary, rue, hyssop, agrimony, and essential oils--all picked specifically for ritual bathing. In many magickal traditions, it is a common practice before working magick to not only purify and cleanse your sacred space, but to also purify and ritually cleanse ourselves as well. The easiest way to do this is to take a ritual bath. It is believed that you should go into any magickal working without any spiritual attachments, and the purpose behind a ritual bath is to rid ourselves of anything that we do not want joining us in our magickal pursuits, including negative thoughts, intentions, or bad energy.
Instructions: Place 1/4 of the purification ritual bath into your tub. If you prefer, you can fill a cotton tea bag with 1/4 of the ritual bath blend to steep in your tub or hang from your shower. You could also steep the contents of the bath in a pot of water and then pour the water over yourself in the shower after the water has cooled. You could use it as a scrub as well. Each pouch contains enough product for four separate baths. Use roughly one ounce (or 1/4 of the bag) per bath.

It is believed that the idea of “spring cleaning” may stem from the common practices of our ancestors during this time of year. The return of the sun and warming days allowed our ancestors to go outside of the home more. Since they had been stuck inside so long during the winter, it was a common practice to cleanse and purify their dwellings around Imbolc. In honor of this tradition we included a pure white handcrafted beeswax candle from Lailoken’s Awen in the Imbolc Sabbat Box to spiritually purify one’s self or one’s space. Each candle is also ritually anointed and spiritually charged by Lailoken himself for purification magick.
Lailoken's Awen sells handcrafted, natural magical supplies like spell candles, ritual oils and spiritual tools.
Awen is Welsh for inspiration. In the Welsh tradition, Awen is the inspiration of the bards, or, in its personification, Awen is the inspirational muse of creative artists.

We take pride in assembling each and every Sabbat Box by hand, no matter the amount of time it takes. We don't just throw your items inside a flat rate priority mail box like some other subscription box companies out there. We want your Sabbat Box to be delivered to you as beautifully as it left us, and it takes a tremendous amount of time to complete this task.
This includes folding the boxes together, individually cutting each sheet of tissue paper by hand, weighing out the crinkle paper for each box, designing the flyers, coupons, stickers and brochures to be printed professionally by commercial printers, individually placing each item within their corresponding bags, individually assembling the boxes, individually packing the tissue paper within each box by hand and also putting together and creating product packing. This timeframe doesn't even include the efforts made to manage the Sabbat Box website, the back end billing system, social media management, customer service inquiries, accounting, marketing, purchasing, networking, and so on. This is a labor of love and we enjoy serving the community!
We believe in what it is we are doing and we sincerely hope that each and every one of you can see that the purest of intent and utmost care goes into curating each Sabbat Box.

• IMBOLC-RITUALS, RECIPES & LORE FOR BRIGID'S DAY •
• ITEM 1: IMBOLC BOOK.........$11.99
• WHAT: Imbolc-Rituals, Recipes and Lore for Brigid's Day (part of Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials series)
• WHO MAKES IT?: Llewellyn Worldwide & Authored By Carl F. Neal
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: You can purchase copies via the Sabbat Box Store or via Llewellyn.
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: Llewellyn has been a trusted source for books on Paganism, Magick and New Age topics since 1901. This particular book features spells, recipes, lore, invocations, correspondences, crafts and rituals that will help to inspire you to celebrate Imbolc in your own unique way.
BREAKDOWN:
Part of what we wish to do here at Sabbat Box is to provide further resources for our members pertaining to paganism, witchcraft and the Sabbats. The Sabbat Essentials series are wonderful resource books and will truly help you find inspiration on how to celebrate the Sabbat in your own special way. Some may say that these books are geared more towards those new to the craft, but you would be surprised to read how much information is packed within these books, which is helpful for both seasoned practitioners as well as a novice! We decided to feature Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials books when we started Sabbat Box, as this line of books is brand new to Llewellyn, (making them first edition prints) and they correlate perfectly with what Sabbat Box is all about. In fact, these first edition printings come out only a few weeks before we ship each Sabbat Box, which makes our members some of the first people to actually own and read them.
The author of Imbolc, Carl F. Neal has been a Pagan teacher and writer since the late 1990’s, specifically in the area of incense creation and incense magic. Carl brings his extensive knowledge in writing Imbolc, highlighting a collection of practices and traditions both old and new surrounding the Sabbat of Imbolc, also known as Brigid’s Day. Some of Carl’s other works include Incense, Incense Magick, and The Magic Toolbox.
A brief excerpt from the book—a prayer for healing the heart, mind, and soul:
Goddess Brigid, Keeper of the Flame, Tender of the Well,
I come to you to ask for the healing of an injured soul.
Please look into deepest places within [person’s name]
and find the injuries that lie beneath the surface.
I ask that you ease the pain within my/that soul.
Just as this candle shines, I ask that you
shine a light on a path towards healing.
Shine a light so bright and clear that
the path to healing is unmistakable.
Please send whatever assistance will be
needed to make this soul whole once again.

• ITEM 4: PALO SANTO.........$4.95
• WHAT: Sacred wood incense
• WHO MAKES IT?: Mother Nature
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: Most metaphysical shops, Sun's Eye Store or the Sabbat Box Store.
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT? Palo Santo is a rare wood from a tree by the same name that has been burned by shamans in ritual and sacred spaces for centuries. This wood carries a strong scent and is said to help purify your space.
BREAKDOWN
Palo Santo in Spanish literally means “holy wood” and comes from the tree that predominately grows in Central and South America bearing the same name (also known etymologically as Bursera Graveolens) and features a sweet, smoky citrus aroma. The Palo Santo tree is actually related to the same trees that bring us fragrant resins like frankincense as well as myrrh. What makes Palo Santo different is it is more common to burn the wood of the tree moreso than resin itself. Due to over-harvesting in South America, palo santo is now grown under government management in order to conserve the sacred wood. This has caused the price of the wood to rise due to its limited availability.
Shamans in Central and South America have been using Palo Santo for hundreds of years, and its use has been adopted by many Pagans around the world as a tool used for purification and cleansing as well as clearing ritual space. Palo Santo is also commonly burned during shamanic journeying and mediating. Use your palo santo by itself or in combination with other sacred herbs and smudges to create your own specially corresponding ritual incense.
How to burn/use palo santo:
• Fetch a small fireproof bowl, cauldron or incense vessel.
• Place a piece of your wood next to a burning flame (a lighter or candle will do).
• Allow the wood to catch fire and burn at one of the ends for a few seconds.
• Once the wood has caught fire and is starting to emit smoke, extinguish the fire.
• After extinguished, you will want to keep the palo santo atop a bowl or ash catcher to catch the smoldered embers and to prevent fire. Use the emitting smoke to sense your space.
• SACRED SABBAT PURIFICATION SPELL CANDLES •
• ITEM 5: SPELL CANDLES.........$5.50
• WHAT IS IT: 6-inch purification white ritual taper spell candles.
• WHO MAKES IT?: Sabbat Box (exclusive item)
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: The Sabbat Box Store.
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: These pure white ritual candles provide the means to purge negativity, and purify your sacred space by means of candle magick.
BREAKDOWN:
White—both at once a lack of color and all colors at once (like a prism)—signifies purity, absence of darkness, as well as “a clean slate”, which for most Pagans is a perfect analogy to the renewal and “restart” that Imbolc represents. We have specially packaged these candles to provide our members and friends a way to signify their intent to start anew and embrace the new life that is to come in the new year.
One of the religious traditions tied to Imbolc is “Candlemas”, which is a hail back to the original intent of this fire festival: “a festival of lights.” It is only appropriate that we include candles in this Sabbat Box. Whether you use these candles to work magic, cast spells of purification, or simply light your home or space, we believe they provide a tangible celebration of all the hope and renewal that Imbolc represents.
Each pair of pure shite ritual taper candles comes wrapped in parchment paper. One could use the inside of the wrapper to write down your intent and burn in upon the fire of the white candles. You could also carve and anoint your candles with the corresponding herbs and oils of your intent to work candle magick, or simply use your candles as a focal point on your altar.
Chant included with your candles:
Element of fire I light your flame,
By burning this candle I speak your name,
Element of fire I call upon your light,
Come forth this sacred sabbat,
To purify, cleanse and shine ever bright.
• PAGAN SYMBOL ALTAR CLOTHS •
• ITEM 6: ALTAR CLOTH.........$14.99
• WHAT IS IT?: Pagan Symbol Altar Cloths 36.00" x 36.00"
• WHO MAKES IT?: Via Eclectic Artisans
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: You can purchase at the Sabbat Box Store.
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: Altar Cloths are a colorful way to decorate and honor a sacred space, altar, or dedicated working space.
BREAKDOWN
We’ve included these cloths as a way to add a renewing accent to whatever area you wish to adorn for the coming sabbats as a way to celebrate the Wheel of the Year while protecting your altar or furniture. Each super soft, lightweight cloth measures in at 36" x 36" making them perfect for altars of any shape or size. Symbolism plays an important role in most Pagan's spiritual practice. The beloved symbols found on each of these altar cloths have various meaning and are considered to be representative of the divine in one way or another. The outsides of each cloth contain various Celtic knot work and beautifully frayed edges.
We’ve included one of the following designs in each Sabbat Box based on member preferences of what symbols they connect with most:
• The Greenman
• Pentacle
• Triple Goddess
• Triple Moon
• Triquetra
• CLEAR QUARTZ GEMSTONE SET W/INFO CARD & BAG •
• ITEM 7: STONE SET.........$1.50
• WHAT: Clear quartz gemstone set
• WHO MAKES IT?: Stones sourced from Azure Green and packaged by Sabbat Box
• WHERE CAN I GET IT?: You can purchase this set via the Sabbat Box Store.
• WHY WOULD I WANT IT?: Quartz, one of the most abundant crystals on Earth, corresponds to and represents the renewal and purification themes of Imbolc.
BREAKDOWN
Quartz and Imbolc are a perfect fit: both represent purity, clarity, and protection. Clear quartz not only is used in altar placement and personal clearing, but also can fill in as a “universal” corresponding stone for other colors and representations, as light through the quartz (like a prism) can split into all colors of the rainbow. Many practitioners also use quartz, both absolutely clear and those with fine cracks or rutilations as a way of divination (in fact, many very expensive crystal balls are created using large polished spheres of quartz) as well as a spellwork tool to enhance clarity of a situation or intent in magickal workings. We’ve included a small informational card and a large organza bag in each set. Each quartz is roughly .5" to 1.5" in size and makes a great addition to any stone collection.
• PACKING & SHIPPING •
PACKING & SHIPPING: Part of the costs of your box include the box and the packing material itself. The items listed below account for a good portion of the overall costs for the Imbolc Sabbat Box. Each Imbolc Sabbat Box is lined with paper padding and wrapping to add to the surprise of what we’ve curated for you. Shipping is included in the total price. The average cost to ship Sabbat Boxes is roughly $8.60. With that being said, we here at Sabbat Box wish to be as environmentally friendly that we can be and do our best to source packing supplies and material from companies that have the same beliefs we do, in that we want to make as little of an impact as possible on the environment.
BOXES: Your boxes where made from high quality corrugated paper and are 100% recyclable. Try to find another use for your box. They are 9x9x3 on the inside.
